It looks like boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez’s reasoning that he only tested positive for trace amounts of Clenbuterol due to tainted meat, may have some truth attached to it after all.
As tweeted out by famed Los Angeles Times sports reporter Lance Pugmire, two VADA officials have apparently revealed that Canelo managed to pass two tests conducted on March 3rd and 5th respectively, after failing the February 20th test.

While this confirms the possibility that Canelo will be tested much frequently in the lead up to the fight, it also backs the Mexican superstar’s assertion that he only failed in the first place because of tainted meat.
It is well established that there is a large prevalence of inducing cattle with chemicals like Clenbuterol to grow them out in Mexico. And as soon as Canelo tested positive for trace amounts of the substance, he made it a point to move his camp to the USA in preparation for the Golovkin rematch scheduled to take place on May 5th this year.
Here is the tweet Pugmire put out:
Told by two officials that VADA tested @Canelo twice more on March 3 and 5 in Mexico and both results are preliminarily negative for clenbuterol or any banned substance.

The VADA Commission is conducting an investigation into Canelo’s positive test, and will continue testing him in the lead up to May 5th to ensure that he is clean going into the fight.
Canelo himself has been nothing but cooperative and had this to say after details of his failed test were released.
I am an athlete who respects the sport and this surprises me and bothers me because it had never happened to me[before]
I will submit to all the tests that require me to clarify this embarrassing situation and I trust that at the end the truth will prevail.
The first fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin was controversially ruled a draw, despite many thinking that GGG had done more than enough to win the bout.
How do you think the second fight between them goes?
