In a battle between Philippine natives, Jerwin Ancajas (30-1-1,20KO’s) took on Jonas Sultan live on ESPN Plus. Ancajas, the IBF Super Flyweight titlist, made a successful defense of his title. Sultan (14-4,9KO’s) proved to be awkward as Ancajas struggled to find his rhythm throughout the night. Ancajas worked behind his jab controlling the distance throughout. Sultan kept coming, however, landing counter punches throughout the bout.

It was a slow pace fight in the early stages but by the fifth round, it seemed like Ancajas was starting to find his rhythm constantly landing a lead left hand. Sultan proved to be game as he kept coming forward only landing one shot at a time.

Ancajas appeared to look fatigued going down the stretch as Sultan manages to have his best round in the ninth, hitting Ancajas and finally being able to push him back. Sultan started to land his left hook at will throughout the late part of the fight.

It was an ugly bout throughout as both men clashed heads numerous times in the fight. Ancajas came out firing in the eleventh round as the champion began to press the action. Going into the final round both men started to let their hands go.

Ancajas is simply the better boxer and seemed to have found his second wind. Sultan made Ancajas earn the victory, giving the champion everything he can handle. Ancajas, however, landed the cleaner, sharper punches.

It was an awkward bout as both men’s styles seemed to clash but ultimately it was Jerwin Ancajas prevailing by unanimous decision to retain his title (119–109 2X, 117-111). Ancajas was just simply the more polished boxer throughout the night.
