Mikey Garcia stated that he had a very productive meeting with Eddie Hearn over the weekend. The two met face to face and Hearn made what Garcia called an aggressive offer to have him fight on DAZN. Garcia, who is slated to face Robert Easter Jr in July, said he will have a lot to think about after his bout. Hearn has been pursuing several fighters, trying to grow his Matchroom stable in America. If he is able to land Garcia it will give him a marquee name that he so desperately needs at the moment.
Hearn recently signed an eight-year deal with DAZN worth 1 billion dollars. Garcia and Hearn have been rumored to be in talks for a few weeks now. However, is the first time Garcia has been optimistic about the talks, at least publicly.
Hearn has stated that he will have an announcement by the end of June on fighters he has been able to land. Right now his biggest name in America is Daniel Jacobs.
With a 125 million dollar per year budget Hearn may have to overpay for some guys at least on the front end of the deal, to entice some of the major players. He has also shown interest in Adrien Broner, who publicly turned him down.
Deontay Wilder the WBC heavyweight titlist has vowed never to sign with Hearn. The Charlo twins, Jermall and Jermell, have stated they’re willing to at least listen to what Hearn has to offer.
