UFC’s best flyweights will clash at UFC 269 as the flyweight champion Brandon Moreno will be making his first title defense against the guy from whom he won the belt, the former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo. UFC 269 will take place on December 11, 2021. The location and the venue for the event are yet to be announced. Also, the Women’s Bantamweight Championship and Featherweight champion, Amanda Nunes is set to defend her bantamweight title against the Ultimate Fighter winner Julianna Pena. The duo was previously scheduled to battle at UFC 265. However, the bout was pulled from that event after Nunes tested positive for COVID-19.  ESPN was the first to report the fight.

“The trilogy is on. Brandon Moreno will defend his title against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 269 on Dec. 11. UFC looked into booking Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja, but Pantoja won’t be ready before end of the year. Moreno wanted to be active and was willing to fight any challenger.”

The duo first fought in the main event of UFC 256. The fight was a back and forth battle between two of the best flyweight in the UFC. Deiveson looked amazing in the early rounds but slowly and steadily Moreno picked up the face and maintained that same pressure throughout the fight. Both the fighters had several moments in the fight and the judges were put under pressure. The judges decided to give this fight a majority draw.

The pair was again set to battle for the flyweight title as they needed to settle the question of who was the best flyweight in the UFC. The rematch between Moreno and Figueiredo took place at UFC 263. The card was headlined by Adesanya and Vettori rematch.

The fight started with Moreno being the aggressor one right from the first round. Deiveson looked slow and very patient while Brandon was putting on heavy pressure. The second round was a competitive one and both the fighters had some moment. In the third round, Moreno landed some amazing shots and took the champ down, and locked an amazing rear-naked choke to become the new undisputed flyweight champion.

Deiveson Figueiredo had become the champ after defeating Joseph Benavidez for the vacant UFC Flyweight Championship. They fought twice and Figueiredo got both the wins. In their first fight, Deiveson had missed weight so he couldn’t win the belt even after he won the fight. He went on the defend the title against Alex Perez.

Now both Brandon and Figueiredo are set to fight their trilogy fight within 12 months of the span since their first fight.
