Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno will take on a surging contender in Kai Kara-France at UFC 277 on July 30 with the venue yet to be announced. The news was first reported by Ariel Helwani.

The current champion Deiveson Figueiredo is nursing a finger injury, so the UFC has taken the route of an interim title for this fight. Brandon Moreno is coming off of a loss to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 270 in January early this year. Prior to that, he had scored a rear-naked choke submission win over Figueiredo at UFC 263. Before that as well, he fought Figueiredo to a draw.

On the other hand, Kai Kara-France is riding on an amazing three-fight winning streak. In his last fight, he defeated Askar Askarov via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 33 in March earlier this year. Prior to that, he brutally knocked out Cody Garbrandt via TKO in the first round at UFC 269.

This is a big opportunity for Kai as a win over Moreno will mean a shot at the UFC Gold. Moreno and Kai previously fought each other at UFC 245. In that fight, Moreno had defeated Kai via unanimous decision.
