Eldar Eldarov has long envisioned a battle against Mounir Lazzez and the fight of his dreams is finally in front of him as two of the top fighters in the world collide for the inaugural Super Lightweight title at Brave 23. The historical fight card takes place in Amman, Jordan, on April 19th, and they will finally settle their differences in the Brave Arena as their rivalry has spilled over to social media.
In an interview with program Brave Talks, Eldarov revealed how he campaigned to fight Lazzez a few years back when he first moved to Bahrain to oversee preparations for KHK MMA fighters. Upon arrival to the Kingdon, “Khan” repeatedly asked training partners about the best fighter in the region, and immediately called out “The Sniper”.
“I’ll tell you a story. When I first came to Bahrain, I asked the guys who was the best fighter in the region. They said “Mounir”. So I asked to fight him. Hamza (Kooheji, Brave Featherweight contender) tried to make the fight happen. So, when the Brave matchmaker sent me a message about the fight, I was just laughing and remembering that. I didn’t ask questions, date, anything. I just said yes”, revealed Eldarov.
After watching the video, Lazzez went to Brave CF’s social media accounts and sent a warning message to Eldarov, saying he was going to “ruin his dreams”.
“You finally got your wish, Eldar. I appreciate the compliment and it’s an honor to face you. But unfortunately, I have to ruin your night by beating you. I hope after we can shake hands and know it’s only business! See you soon”, said the Super Lightweight title contender.
Brave 23 takes place at Al Hussein Youth City, Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall (Boxing Arena), in cooperation with the Royal Hospital, and will have the City Mall as the show’s official entertainment partner.
