Ortega was scheduled to fight “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. This was supposed to be Ortega’s first fight in over a year. He was last seen in action against Max Holloway at UFC 231 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. He was knocked out in the fourth round.
Ortega wanted to fight Chan Sung Jung for quite some time as he had said in an interview to BJPenn a few months ago.
“The fight isn’t official yet, but it’s one I’m interested in,” Ortega said. “He’s coming off an impressive win against [Renato] Moicano, but if you look at his last five fights, it’s win, loss, win, loss, win. Looks like he’s due for another L.”
He also said that he was ready for a comeback and was in the best shape possible of his career.
“I’m clear, man. I’m back to fight shape. I’m good to go. I’m ready, I’m anxious,” he said. “Give me a camp, give me a fight date, give me where it’s at and we’ll make it happen. It’s gonna be 2019. … My eyes are on everyone who’s in the top 10 and everyone who’s not in the top 10. Everyone who’s coming up, everyone who’s barely getting there, and everyone who’s at the top – my eyes are on every single person.” Ortega said in September (H/T – MMAJunkie.com)
