Brendan Allen (23-5) has found himself an interesting replacement for Marvin Vettori at UFC Vegas 90- the 6th ranked UFC middleweight star will be facing someone whom he has already shared the Octagon, and that’s none other than Chris Curtis (31–10).
The initial clash between Allen and Curtis took place at UFC Vegas 44 in December 2021. Originally scheduled to face Roman Dolidze, Allen found himself up against Curtis on short notice.
In a surprising turn of events, “The Action Man” secured a second-round TKO victory, making a statement in just his second UFC fight- which also remains the last time Allen suffered a defeat in the UFC.
For his first UFC fight of 2024, Allen was booked against Marvin Vettori- the former title challenger who is currently the 5th ranked fighter in the 185-pound division, and the two were set to headline UFC Vegas 90 on 6th April.
However, due to a “freak accident“, the Italian fighter has been forced to pull out of the fight and stepping in for him is Allen’s former foe Curtis, currently ranked 14th in the division.

Brendan Allen, Chris Curtis to rerun their UFC Vegas 44 clash
While fight fans may expect the Curtis fight to be a step down in challenge from facing Vettori, the UFC Vegas 90 main event has now offered “All In” a chance to avenge his loss from 2021.
The UFC Vegas 44 defeat- although a disappointing setback for Allen, was followed up by a stellar comeback from the 28-year-old South Carolina native, who secured six back to back victories including wins over the likes of André Muniz and Bruno Silva, with his most recent one- a 3rd round submission victory against Paul Craig at UFC Vegas 82 back in November.
Curtis, meanwhile, won only three of his next six UFC outings- against Rodolfo Vieira, Joaquin Buckley and in his most recent fight- a split decision win over Marc-André Barriault at UFC 297 in January. The other three fights included to losses against Jack Hermansson and Kelvin Gastelum, and a no contest against Nassourdine Imavov.
