Liam Harrison recently took part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, where the legendary British striker candidly answered questions from fans.
In his previous fight against Thai legend Seksan Or Kwanmuang last year, Harrison suffered a devastating TKO loss. Following the bout, he left his gloves in the Circle — which indicates retirement in combat sports.
At that time, when asked about his retirement, Harrison said: “My body just can’t take the shots.”
While on Reddit answering a fan’s question about what made him change his mind to come out of retirement, he revealed the real reason behind the decision.
“I knew that I could come back and have some more exciting fights. My body is much stronger and I feel much sharper. I feel like I’ve got a new lease of life with my brand new Bad Company gym,” said Harrison.
The “Hitman” is set to clash with Myanmar’s Lethwei legend Soe Lin Oo on August 2 at ONE 173: Denver.
Over his years-long tenure in ONE, Harrison has faced some of the biggest striking superstars in the world.
In August 2022, the Leeds-born athlete challenged then-ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama for the strap.
However, the all-time Thai great attacked his knee, forcing the referee to stop the fight. His hopes of becoming a ONE World Champion were crushed, and he had to stay away from competition for a long time.
One fan asked him if there were any potential opponents that he regretted not fighting. The 39-year-old responded, “There’s no one missing off the list. I’ve fought everyone. I’m just a bit upset on how the Nong-O fight ended.”
His most iconic career win came against Thai veteran Muangthai PK Saenchai, where he came back from two knockdowns to score three consecutive knockdowns of his own and secure a victory for the ages.
When asked about his favourite KO win of his career, he revealed, “Muangthai one for sure. It was a crazy one.”
