Bruce Buffer: DC should retire on top instead of risking third fight with Jones

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones might have beaten Daniel Cormier on two different occasions, although his latest victory over Cormier was ruled as ‘NC’. The trilogy fight definitely has tremendous interest amongst fans and it also makes financial sense for the UFC to make it happen considering both fighters are big draws on Box Office.

However, according to UFC Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer, he doesn’t think that there should be a trilogy fight between Jones and Cormier. He voiced his opinion in a recent interview to Express Sports.

“I don’t think it should happen unless they want it to happen,” Buffer said at the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) in the Bahamas. “I think that Cormier has made what I would guess to be a tremendous amount of money in his last three fights. He has a fight potentially scheduled with Brock Lesner for a couple of months from now. If that comes to fruition then he is going to make a tremendous amount of money out of the fight.”

Bruce Buffer continued:

“He is at a point now, being a double belt holder and all, he could just retire on top. But, money talks, people walk and you never know how much money will be involved. If you said ‘hey I want Jon and you to fight’ then he is going to do what he needs to do.”

Meanwhile, Cormier is targetting a fight against Brock Lesnar and a rematch against Stipe Miocic.
