The reason for Lee’s death is cited as “death by misadventure.” Lee died of cerebral edema, where the individual suffers from seizures and migraines, ultimately leading to death due to a swollen brain.
Lee’s close friend and producer Raymond Chow, who came to wake up Lee who had gone for a nap after taking the painkillers. Chow claimed in an interview that Lee died from an allergic reaction to the tranquilizer meprobamate, the main ingredient in Equagesic, which Chow described as an ingredient commonly used in painkillers.
