When you fight at the top level it’s inevitable that you will lose sometimes. But with the knockout format of the Road to UFC there is no second chance. Or is there?
Can you fight again in the Road to UFC?
The tournament is a recurring event series structured into “seasons” and “episodes.” It features several fighter weight divisions, each of which hosts a “win-and-advance” tournament format. So a loss at any stage will be the fighter’s last fight in the tournament. However, there is no rule against appearing the next season.
Fighters Who Made a Return in the Road to UFC
Seung Guk Choi
Korea’s Seung Guk Choi was a finalist in the Road to UFC season 1 and as a finalist even fought in the UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Spivac card. He lost the fight to fellow Korean
.In the second season, Choi made a comeback and fought India’s Sumit Kumar in the round one.
Shohei Nose
Another example is Japan’s Shohei Nose. Nose has featured in all three seasons of Road to UFC. After making it to the semi final of the Season 1, Nose returned with an updated record for season 2. However, he faced defeat in his opening round fight against Long Xiao.
In season 3, Nose again made a comeback to lost his opening bout to South Korea’s Su Young You.
