Like every year, Forbes has released it’s rich list and for the first time, Mexican Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez has made it to top 10 list. Canelo Alvarez was paid $94 Million or ₹650 Crore.
Although most parts of Canelo Alvarez’s pay was from his salary or winning which stood at a staggering $92 Million and endorsement making up for only $2 Million. Canelo Alvarez fought two-time last year against Gennady Golovkin and Rocky Fielding.
He fought Gennady Golovkin on Sept. 15 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and defeated him to become the new WBC, WBA world middleweight champion. The fight was broadcasted like on HBO pay-per-view and it sold about 1.1 Million buys and generated $24 Million in ticket sales. After fighting Golovkin, the Mexican star signed a 5-year, $365 Million deal with sports streaming network DAZN.
He later fought Rocky Fielding in December of 2018 in the super middleweight division. He knocked Fielding out in the fourth round at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
On the other hand, GGG also made it to top 100 highest earning athletes’ list as he made a staggering $25.5 Million and was ranked at No. 95 on the list.
The only MMA fighter to feature on the list was Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor who made $47 Million and was ranked at No. 21 on the list even though his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov broke UFC PPV record and sold 2.4 Million PPV buys.
