UFC 244 was indeed a very very historic event for not just the UFC, but for the entire sport of mixed martial arts. However, what was truly spectacular and extremely sensational to witness was the fact that after the co-main event was over and star boxers Canelo Alvarez and Sergey KKovalev’s main event bout was about to start. DAZN intentionally delayed the bout from starting and instead showed the UFC 244 main event fight for the BMF title between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal. Alvarez is certainly unhappy about this stunt that DAZN pulled to get a few extra viewers.

A rather upset Canelo recently told BoxingScene.com in an interview that he will talk to DAZN and will never allow this to happen again. He is adamant that none of his future fights will intentionally be delayed.

I will not allow them to do that, at least for my fights. I will talk to them (DAZN).

Alvarez had the last laugh that night as he defeated Kovalev via knockout in the 11th round of the fight, while also making close to a reported $45 million, more than all the UFC 244 main and undercard fighters combined.
