Chael Sonnen and Daniel Cormier recently weighed in on the hypothetical matchup between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou during an episode of ESPN’s Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast. Both former UFC fighters believe that Jones would come out on top if the two were to face off.
Sonnen, known as “The American Gangster,” confidently stated, “Do you know what Jon [Jones] would have done to Francis Ngannou in hindsight? Now that we look back…Jon would have picked that big man apart. I mean, I’m just sharing with you, like, that’s a big man’s nightmare. Jon’s not a heavyweight, Jon is fighting at heavyweight, there’s a massive difference.”

Cormier, also known as “DC,” echoed Sonnen’s sentiments, adding, “Yes, dude, Francis [Ngannou] would have struggled with [Jon] Jones. Dude, he threw Stipe [Miocic] down and just beat the crap out of him.”
Their comments come after Jones’ dominant performance against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, where he successfully retained his heavyweight championship with a third-round TKO victory. This win has only fueled the debate about whether Jones could defeat Ngannou, who is known for his knockout power and formidable presence in the heavyweight division.
