Chael Sonnen calls out 'stupid' Jorge Masvidal- "I have agreed to that fight"

Chael Sonnen, the retired MMA fighter and well-known analyst, recently took a dig at former UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal. After his exhibition boxing match against UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva, Sonnen expressed his desire to face Masvidal in a boxing match. But this challenge came with some special conditions.

Chael Sonnen didn’t hold back in his assessment of Masvidal. He called him “a little bit overrated, in all fairness, within his own mind.” Sonnen couldn’t recall the last time Masvidal won a fight, and he was ready to put that to the test. When Masvidal threatened not to use his right hand, Sonnen’s response was straightforward: “OK, stupid, put that in the contract.”

The exhibition boxing match against Anderson Silva took place at Spaten Fight Night in São Paulo, Brazil. Despite chael Sonnen’s inexperience in boxing, Silva’s accuracy and volume seemed to give him the upper hand. The match ended without a winner, but Sonnen had already shifted his focus to Masvidal.

“This whole thing was just part of the process. I’m boxing Jorge Masvidal. I got called out for that fight, I have agreed to that fight…Masvidal’s a little bit overrated, in all fairness, within his own mind. I can’t remember the last time that he won a fight. He gave me a threat, he said, ‘I won’t even use my right hand. I’ll put that in the contract.’ I’m like, ‘OK, stupid, put that in the contract.’ Then he talks about, ‘I’m going to pay you $10 million.’ Well, I didn’t ask for $10 million, but again, stupid, put that in the contract. Just keep talking.” Sonnen stated.

Chael Sonnen announced that he is set to face Masvidal in a boxing match scheduled for October. He humorously revealed that ESPN had sequestered him in Miami during UFC 299 to protect him from Masvidal. Clearly, Sonnen.
