Since his brutal knockout loss at UFC 221 against Yoel Romero, former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has stated on multiple occasions that he is indeed moving up to the light heavyweight division and wants to win the title up at 205 pounds. While many believed that Rockhold might not do too well at light heavyweight, his teammate and ONE FC light heavyweight champion Aung La Nsang believes that Rockhold will excel at the weight class and also tipped him to be the man to beat the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Aung La Nsang recently told Abhinav Kini of The Body Lock that Rockhold will be much more comfortable and stronger in the division. Here’s what he had to say:

I do think he [Rockhold] has the skillset that will be a threat for Jon Jones. He’s got a high-level grappling game and he’s got a different dimension that a lot of 205-ers don’t have. 205 is a better weight class for Luke. He is so much stronger at 205. He walks around naturally at 225 so he’s a big, big guy.

I’m a good-sized middleweight but I’m a smaller-sized light heavyweight. Luke was cutting a little too much weight. Fight week, it was hard for him to even train. I agree with his decision to go up to 205.
