UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira stated that he is confident in his skill set and says that if he fights Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier, then he feels he can knock them both out.
Charles Oliveira is the undisputed UFC lightweight champion. He fought Michael Chandler at UFC 262 for the vacant UFC lightweight belt. Former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov after defending his belt against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 announced his retirement from the sport. The belt was vacated in March 2021. Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira fought at UFC 262 in May 2021. In their fight, Chandler had an amazing start as he had Charles hurt in the first round, but then the tables turned and he rocked Chandler and finished him with strikes in the second round.
Charles Oliveira was recently giving out his views on the UFC 264 matchup between Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier. At UFC 264 Mcgregor and Poirier will clash against each other in their trilogy fight with the series set at 1-1 at the moment. The winner of this fight will not only win the series between them but will also be the next challenger for the belt. As both of them are top-ranked fighters, the winner might fight for the belt.
Oliveira feels if he fights any of them he will come out victorious as he feels he is a much better fighter than both of them and also has the power to knock them out.
Speaking to the media ahead of next weekend’s blockbuster event Oliveira said
“I never choose opponents. I am always ready to fight. They are two big names in the sport, the lightweights. Everyone knows that a fight with Conor has a lot of money and one with Dustin not so much, but they are two great opponents. I don’t choose my fights. I will be ready. I really believe in my jiu-jitsu against either of them, but something tells me that if I fought them, I would knock them both out. I’m feeling fine,” Oliveira said.
“A few years ago, Charles was the jiu-jitsu guy, who walked forward, took a beating and was a little afraid. Today, I’m not afraid to fight these guys. The funny thing is that when I start fighting, they try to put me down, to do what I know best. This shows how much I’m evolving on my feet. It will definitely be a great fight. Charles, today, is not a jiu-jitsu fighter. He’s a complete fighter, both standing and on the ground, but I think everyone will be knocked out.”
