Charles Oliveira, the No. 2-ranked lightweight contender, recently shared his prediction for the highly anticipated bout between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler at UFC 303. While McGregor and Chandler prepare to clash inside the octagon, Oliveira weighed in on the matchup and expressed his interest in facing the Irish superstar.
In an interview with Full Violence, Oliveira stated, “I think that, in reality, it’s a fight that will make money for both. That’s the reality. It’s a fight that’s going to make more money. Of course, if Conor McGregor wins, he could take a step towards the belt. He’s a guy who’s a huge star, but I think it’s a fight for money… I think Conor [wins].”

Michael Oliveira claims he asked to fight Conor McGregor a thousand times
Oliveira didn’t stop there. When asked if he would like to fight Conor McGregor, should the Irishman emerge victorious against Chandler, Oliveira responded emphatically, “Man, everyone knows. In fact, I’ve asked for this fight against Conor a thousand times, but it’s a fight that I don’t think he wants. I’ve said it a thousand times. It’s a fight that will bring me a lot of money, so I’d like it.”
Interestingly, Oliveira also revealed that he wouldn’t engage in trash-talk with McGregor. He acknowledged that he and the former double champ have different ways of promoting fights. Oliveira’s focus remains on securing big fights and maximizing his earnings.
Conor McGregor, despite spending nearly three years away from the octagon, remains the biggest star in mixed martial arts. Oliveira’s coach, Diego Lima, previously expressed a preference for Oliveira to face McGregor over lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. The allure of a fight with McGregor transcends mere titles—it’s about the spectacle and the financial rewards.
As fans eagerly await Conor McGregor vs. Chandler, Charles Oliveira’s prediction adds fuel to the fire. Whether it’s McGregor or Chandler, Oliveira’s hunger for big fights continues to drive him forward in the lightweight division. Only time will tell if “Do Bronx” gets his wish to share the cage with “The Notorious.”
