UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has made his prediction for his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269. Charles says that he is confident that he will defeat Dustin Poirier and also stated that his win will come via submission. The fight at UFC 269 is between two of the best lightweight in the world at the moment. The champion Charles will be facing the no.1 ranked fighter in the lightweight division, Dustin. The fight will serve as the main event of the night. In the co-main event, two-division UFC women’s champion Amanda Nunes will defend her title against Julianna Pena.
Charles Oliveira is riding an amazing nine-fight winning streak going into the championship fight against Dustin. Dustin is riding a three-fight win streak. Though Dustin is a tough opponent, Charles seems confident in his skill set that he will be defeating the challenger and that by submission.
“Everybody is publishing that Poirier is going to fight with me,” Oliveira said to Sherdog. “But until that moment, it’s still under negotiation, I didn’t sign any contract yet.”
“Today I’m not worried about who said bad things about me, or who I’m gonna fight against,” Oliveira said. “My main concern is being ready to face any challenger [the] UFC chooses, and that’s what I’m gonna be in December, against Poirier or any other.”
“Poirier is one of the most dangerous guys of the lightweight division,” Oliveira admitted. “[He] always walks forward, but I think I’m at a different level, both in striking and also in the ground.”
“I would submit Poirier,” Oliveira concluded about how the fight will go.
Even though the champion said that the contract of the fight is not yet signed it’s pretty much sure that the duo will be fighting each other next. The fight will be among the must-see fights in the UFC. Oliveira is coming off a spectacular second-round TKO win over Michael Chandler whom he fought at UFC 262for the vacant UFC lightweight championship.
Dustin Poirier will be fighting in his second title fight as he previously fought Khabib Nurmagomedov and lost the fight in the third round via submission. Dustin is freshly off two consecutive wins over Conor Mcgregor as the duo settled their fighting series with Poirier taking a 2-1 lead. If Poirier wins the undisputed title he will join the list of fighters to win the title after fighting most fights in the UFC.
