UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has revealed that he might consider exploring the boxing world in the near future.

UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira sits at the top of the division and has a lot of challenges coming on his way. Oliveira faced former three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship, following former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement, while headlining UFC 262. Despite being dropped by Chandler in the first, Oliveira won the fight via technical knockout early in the second round to claim the UFC Lightweight Championship.

In their fight, Chandler had an amazing start as he had Charles hurt in the first round, but then the tables turned and he rocked Chandler and finished him with strikes in the second round. Now after winning the championship Charles has revealed his future plans and said that the boxing world is also something he wants to explore.

“Everything I want to do, I dedicate myself 100 percent to it. To be able to do and happen. One of the things that I see happening a lot is people doing these boxing matches. Maybe I can’t do a boxing match later on. It’s something that makes money. It’s something that’s coming up cool, all MMA fighters are doing it. So, everything I propose to do, I do very well, I dedicate myself 100 percent. And who knows, an opportunity to do a boxing match may arise. I think I would like to do it,” Oliveira said. “I wanted to do a boxing match, test myself in boxing. It’s something that’s been making a lot of money for everyone and it would be nice to do. I don’t have any name in mind, but if the opportunity arose, I would definitely like to do it.”

Charles Oliveira also in a recent interview said that he also considers fighting Dustin Poirier or Conor Mcgregor in the future and also stated that he can knock them both out.

“I never choose opponents. I am always ready to fight. They are two big names in the sport, the lightweights. Everyone knows that a fight with Conor has a lot of money and one with Dustin not so much, but they are two great opponents. I don’t choose my fights. I will be ready. I really believe in my jiu-jitsu against either of them, but something tells me that if I fought them, I would knock them both out. I’m feeling fine,” Oliveira said.

Charles Oliviera is now being targeted to fight Dustin Poirier who is the no.1 contender in the lightweight division. The UFC is planning to set up this matchup by the end of the year.
