Another round of scintillating combat sports action went down when ONE Friday Fights 104 aired from Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium on 11 April.
Twelve more action-packed contests across MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai took place as more rising stars looked to secure a US$100,000 contract with ONE Championship.
In the main event, Chartpayak Saksatoon dismantled Kompet Fairtex in stunning fashion in the second round of their strawweight Muay Thai rematch following November’s first encounter at ONE Friday Fights 86.
Both men entered the ring knowing each other’s styles very well. But Chartpayak was the first to throw heavy kicks before hitting clean counterstrikes to take control.
It all came to a head in the second frame, though, as the Kiatpet striker stalked Kompet. He eventually found his range to land several punishing left hands in quick fashion that sent the two-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion tumbling.
Kompet crawled back to his feet, but the referee deemed him unfit to continue at just 51 seconds of round two and Chartpayak picked up his seventh win in a row.
In the featured bout of the night, Khunponnoi Sor Sommai snapped the six-fight winning streak of Sonrak Fairtex in flyweight Muay Thai action while picking up his third win in a row.
In the opening frame, the duo took their time to find their footing. But Khunponnoi was the first to advance, eventually pushing the pace with elbows in the clinch.
Sonrak responded in the second stanza with heavy punches of his own. However, Khunponnoi turned the contest into a frenzy as he rushed his man with sharp elbows and knees inside.
Khunponnoi shook off a huge head kick from Sonrak in the final round, regaining his composure to land crisp punches and earn the split-decision win.
Elsewhere, Stella Hemetsberger earned her third straight win in a row as she knocked out Vanessa Romanowski in the first round. In turn, she earned herself a main roster contract with ONE Championship.
