Khamzat Chimaev is coming off a spectacular one-punch knockout victory over Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 11 and now he is showing interest in fighting Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.
Wonderboy Thompson who is often regarded as the Nicest MF in the game has recently called out Leon Edwards which was his first official twitter call out. Earlier in the week, Thompson (15-4-1 MMA, 10-4-1 UFC) tweeted a challenge to UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards. The former two-time UFC title contender took to Twitter in a very respectful manner to call out fellow welterweight for a potential fight.
Thompson is still widely considered one of the best 170-pound fighters in the world while Edwards is riding an eight-fight win streak as he anxiously awaits an opportunity to contend for the welterweight championship.
All due respect @Leon_edwardsmma , which I have a lot of for you, I have been saying I would like to fight you for a while now! It makes sense and would be a great match up.
I think that was my first Twitter call out ever. man that felt weird. 🤣😂 #FirstTimeForEverything

To which Khamzat Chimaev replied, “We fighting next let’s, go leave Leon alone.”
Is Chimaev VS Thompson fight to make next?
Chimaev has burst onto the UFC scene with three finishes in 66 days. “Borz” finished John Phillips with a D’arce choke in the second round of his octagon debut at UFC on ESPN 13 in July before turning around 11 days later with a first-round TKO win over Rhys McKee. The 26-year-old earned his third straight performance bonus following his one-punch KO over a 44-fight veteran in Meerschaert.
Although tentatively on the books per UFC President Dana White, a matchup between Chimaev and former title challenger Demian Maia was being targeted for November. But as of now, the fight is not yet signed, and White said it’s possible that Chimaev could even be booked for another fight before Maia. “I don’t know what I do with (Chimaev) yet,” White said. “He might fight before Maia and fight Maia, too. Maia’s not going to be ready in time for this kid.”
Thompson, a former UFC welterweight title challenger, has not competed since November when he defeated Vicente Luque via unanimous decision. The victory snapped a two-fight losing streak. When speaking with MMA Fighting, he said Chimaev is certainly on his radar as the standout continues his meteoric rise in both the middleweight and welterweight divisions.
“He’s a tough dude and someone you have to keep your eye on for sure—somebody like me, especially,” said Thompson.
What do you guys think will be the next fight. Will it be Thompson vs Edwards or Chimaev?
