UFC heavyweight star Ciryl Gane might have gotten the better of Tai Tuivasa in the Octagon, but he might be the hardest puncher the Frenchman has ever faced in his MMA career.

Not Francis Ngannou, Tai Tuivasa packs the hardest punch, according to Ciryl Gane

Coming from his maiden career loss against divisional champion Francis Ngannou in January, Gane marked a third round knockout victory over Tuivasa in the main event of UFC Paris on 3rd September.

While he had the last laugh, Gane was in serious trouble a number of times against Tuivasa, and ‘Bam Bam’ even dropped Gane in the second round which could have easily marked him a stoppage victory if the latter hadn’t picked himself up.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour about the fight, ‘Bon Gamin’ said that Tuivasa was the hardest opponent he’s faced. Even though he lost to Ngannou earlier, who is known for having the hardest recorded punch in the world, Tuivasa tops Gane’s list.

“The feeling was just, because I didn’t see anything, talking about his punch, that’s why I fell down, and I think the ground woke me up,” said Gane, “When my a** touched the ground I said, ‘Oh, what happening?’ And I understood and reacted directly, that he caught me so I go ahead on his legs to grab and stand up, and after that, I took a rest — maybe three, four seconds — and moved away and it was OK, but he touched me for real.”

“He’s really dangerous. You see sometimes you have some guys, you can’t explain, but he has something in his hands, just like that. When the guy touches you, you go down. That’s it. Incredible.”

“No”, said Gane about ever feeling a punch that hard, “When you look at the punch, it really doesn’t look hard, powerful. But when he touches you, he touches you for real. That’s why I say, I don’t know exactly. I can’t explain, but he has something in his hands and this is the first time I’ve felt this.” [H/T MMA Fighting]
