The former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington has always been famous or rather infamous for his controversial remarks, comments, and trash talking abilities. Needless to say apart from his spectacular performance and dominant victory over former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, Covington is now again in the news for his controversial remarks and verbal fight with the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate.
Covington had been asked a question by the host Tate on MMA Tonight at Sirius XM on why he branded Lawler a ‘legend’ and gave him so much respect when he does not do that with his other opponents. The question apparently did not sit too well with Covington as he went on to bash Tate as claimed that she is someone who has ‘negative thoughts’ about him. Here’s what he had to say:
It gets back to me. All the people say how (you say) negative thoughts about me, and how I’m this and that. I just think it’s very hypocritical, because I don’t think you’re a perfect person. You might have some skeletons in your closet, as well.
He then remarked that Tate only got her popularity because of Ronda Rousey and Instagram:
Got famous off losing to my girl Ronda Rousey. Putting pictures on the internet.
