The former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington finally had his first shot at the undisputed title. Unfortunately for Chaos Covington, he lost the fight after putting up a great show due to a knockout in the fifth round. After the fight, CCC again took to Twitter and continued his rather infamous Twitter rants. He took to the micro blogging website to criticize the referee, Marc Goddard.
The former amateur wrestler went on a foul mouthed rant on Twitter after losing his bout to his heated rival and the current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman. He complained that the stoppage was a rather early one by the referee. Here’s what he had to say:
Normally people do their fucking in the bedroom, not the octagon @marcgoddard_uk! I go in there to kill or be killed. You robbed me of that. You robbed the people of a fair fight. You should be ashamed of yourself. Fake nut shot. Fake eye poke. Fake stoppage. Fake ref. #ufc245
Covington broke his jaw in around the third round of the fight after putting up an extremely dominant performance during the first two rounds. Usman later in the fifth round, hit some brutal and powerful shots right at the button and the broken jaw of Covington. Thus, putting him to the ground. As Usman poured on a few more shots due to some ground and pound, Goddard soon stepped in and stopped the fight.
As soon as the stoppage occurred, it seemed to polarise the entire MMA and combat sports community. While some fans and pundits alike believed it was an early stoppage, others argued that the finish was a fair one.
