UFC welterweight division interim title holder, Colby Covington, believes that Tyron Woodley’s career is coming crashing down to a halt. After being dominated for five-full five-minute rounds by ‘The Nigerian Nightmare,’ Kamaru Usman, a virtually untouched Woodley had his first taste of championship defeat in the UFC, last Saturday night. Soon after Woodley’s defeat at UFC 235 in Las Vegas, fans and critiques were quick to further investigate into Covington’s role to play, given the current state of affairs in the UFC’s welterweight division.

Speaking with Bloody Elbow in a recent media outing, Covington displayed no visible form of remorse or empathy towards Woodley’s recent dethroning from championship status. During the interview, he said:

“His career is over. He’s made all his money, he’s cashed out, he’s not a real fighter anymore. He doesn’t want to be here to make his division great again like myself. That was already a broken man (in the cage against Usman). He’s not the type of guy when things get tough he’s gonna come back stronger. He’s not resilient; something bad comes to him, he doesn’t know how to fight back.”

Following this, Covington went on to have further predictions for the ex-champion, Woodley. After supposedly being denied a title shot against Woodley ahead of Usman’s unexpected trajectory in the division, Covington feels that Woodley has run out of gas in the tank and lacks the grit to make a champion comeback.

“He’s been one foot in for the last couple years,” Covington said to Bloody Elbow. “He’s got so much on his plate, he’s out here trying to rap albums, he’s trying to do acting, he’s trying to do broadcasting — he sucks at all of them.”

Next in the line for the title according to statements made by UFC president, Dana White, Colby Covington is currently in all-readiness to take on champion, Kamaru Usman. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is presently recovering from injuries sustained during the UFC 235 main event, but is surely expected to make his first defense as champion, within the year.
