Colby Covington after a dominant win over Tyron Woodley has turned his attention towards the BMF champion Jorge Masvidal.
Covington (16-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) beat former training partner and longtime rival Tyron Woodley (19-6-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) in a lopsided fifth-round TKO at UFC Vegas 11.
Following a heated rivalry that stretches back several years, Covington dominated former welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, from the first second of their fight until the last before earning a fifth-round TKO. The fight-ending sequence actually came after Covington secured a takedown and Woodley screamed out in pain after he had suffered a rib injury.
Covington vs Masvidal: Best friends turned enemy
With the next shot at Kamaru Usman’s 170-pound title going to Gilbert Burns, Covington said he has a good fight in mind to occupy his time, and that’s another former teammate in Jorge Masvidal.
“Where’s Jorge Masvidal at?” Colby Covington told reporters, at the UFC on ESPN+ 36 post-fight news conference. “He needs to come to see me for all the talking he’s done. Come see if can walk the walk. I talk the talk and I walk the walk. I want to see Jorge Masvidal in that octagon. … I want the best friends turned enemy to fight with ‘Street Judas’ Jorge Masvidal.”
But this fight between two-best welterweights Masvidal vs Covington will have to go through many hurdles as Masvidal is definitely getting ready for his rematch with a bonified BMF contender Nate Diaz, it’s a fight that UFC is looking to book in near future but still, Colby called his shot on his former best friend and current rival.

“Speaking of prenups, where’s Jorge Masvidal at? I know he should have got a prenup with his ex-wife. He needs to come see me for all the talking he’s done. Come see if he can walk the walk. I talk the talk, I walk the walk, I wanna see Jorge Masvidal in that Octagon,” Covington said.
“He’s been talking all that talk wreckless. At our old gym, he was saying, ‘I’m going to beat your ass, I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.’ OK, let’s see it. Come see me in the Octagon, then. If you’re so tough let’s see you back up those words. But he can’t. He’s going to go hiding. He’s going to look for that Soy Boy out of Californa Nate Diaz. He’s going to look for easy fights because he knows I’ll expose him just like I did Tyron Woodley tonight.”
UFC has definitely something planned up for Covington if not the Masvidal fight.
