Colby Covington asks Kamaru Usman to show some balls and fight him again

The no.1 ranked UFC welterweight fighter Colby Covington is mad about the fact that the champion Kamaru Usman doesn’t want to fight him and instead went for Masvidal.

Kamaru Usman will defend his UFC welterweight title in a rematch against Jorge Masvidal in the headliner of UFC 261 on April 24 in Jacksonville, Florida. The event will have a full crowd of about 15,000 fans for the first time since UFC has done a card with no capacity limit since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020.

Colby Covington wants that rematch with Kamaru Usman soon

Kamaru Usman recently while talking about his other rival Colby said that he need to see activity in the division.

“Show me some activity. Give me a reason,” Usman told ESPN. “… It’s time for him to show the people that he deserves another chance to fight for the title. You can’t sit back and say, ‘Oh, I beat Tyron Woodley. That’s it. I deserve a shot at the title.’ No. That doesn’t give you a shot at the title.”

Colby Covington (16-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) took to Twitter to fire back at Usman after the champ urged Covington to stay active if he wants another title shot.

Spoken like a true coward who doesn’t want to face the rightful #1 contender,” Covington tweeted. “The rankings have chosen and so have the people Marty. Just say the truth: you know you can’t win and you’d rather fight bums like Street Judas for easy paychecks.”

With UFC 261 just a few weeks away, Covington made sure to take another jab at his rival Usman. Taking to his social media, Covington suggested that Usman has been ducking him and that he hopes he finally accepts the rematch.

“I’m ranked #1 in the world and added a 3rd UFC champion as a victim to my resume in my last fight. You’re beating lightweights and calling out a journeyman with 15 L’s for a rematch after he hasn’t fought in a year since you beat him 50-42. “Show Me AcTiViTy!” You’re a bitch Marty. Show the world some balls. Fight me.”

Usman is scheduled to make his fourth title defense in a rematch against Jorge Masvidal, which will serve as the main event of UFC 261 on April 24. Masvidal hasn’t fought in nine months, since he lost a lopsided unanimous decision to Usman back in July 2020.

Colby Covington rebounded from his December 2019 loss to Usman with a stoppage win over ex-champ Woodley last September and has campaigned for both a rematch with Usman and a grudge match with Masvidal ever since.
