UFC two-time welterweight title challenger Colby Covington has now shown interest in a fight against the middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Colby Covington is the No.1 ranked welterweight fighter in the world. He has attempted to win the welterweight title twice in his career but has failed in both of his attempts. He first fought against Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 and lost the fight via TKO in the fifth round. In his last fight, he again tried to make his dream come true of becoming the champion but was defeated by Usman via decision. Now the ‘Chaos’ has proposed a fight against the current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya who is having trouble finding some worthy opponent in his middleweight division.

Colby Covington has already tried his luck getting the belt at welterweight but has failed, unfortunately. Now he has something else in mind if he is not able to get the welterweight title he might go up and try getting the middleweight title.

In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Colby Covington said he would like to potentially fight UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya if he was given the chance.

“I’m not opposed to going up to 185 pounds and beating up ‘Stylebender,’” Covington told Yahoo Sports. “That guy, he’s not a well-rounded fighter. He can’t keep up with my pace. I know I can take him down and drown him. So there’s a lot of options out there for me. If I don’t get a chance to do my third fight with Usman, then it’s OK.”

Though Colby said that he might consider going up at 185 pounds but deep in his heart he still wants to get a win over Kamaru Usman.

“Deep down inside, I truly know who’s the better fighter, and I can go away with my career knowing that he wasn’t a better fighter and he didn’t didn’t prove that to me,” Covington said. “There’s still unfinished business, but if he wants to walk away from the sport, then that’s his decision. I’m not going anywhere. I’m just getting started. The best is yet to come, so you might be seeing Usman retire the next year and Colby will be the undisputed champ.”

Colby Covington is now scheduled to face his former best friend and current rival Jorge Masvidal in one of the biggest grudge matches to have ever been set in the UFC. The duo will fight in the welterweight division and would go against each other at UFC 272. The fight will take place on March 5, 2022, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States.
