Colby Covington on LHW Title challenger Anthony Smith: He's a junior, he's not on my level!

Colby Covington does not forget when someone insults him. He always returns the favour in a similar fashion, and now Anthony Smith is the fighter who has realised this side of him. In a recent interview on Submission Radio, Colby Covington took care to focus on Anthony Smith and the perceived insult he had received.

Two weeks ago, Covington had taken to Twitter to ‘smear’ Jon Jones with regards to his PED problems. Anthony Smith did not take to it too kindly and asked him to not throw ‘shade’ at his fight. Later, during an appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’, Anthony Smith described Covington as a ‘scared cat’.

Covington has had many reasons to be in a bad mood of late, as he was stripped of the Interim Welterweight Title, for not taking a fight against Woodley at UFC 233. So, when he appeared on the show, he had a lot to say about Anthony Smith.

You know, the guy, he hasn’t beat anybody that wasn’t 10 years past their prime coming off the steroids. He’s on, what, a three-fight win streak, and he was just getting knocked out by (middleweights). So, the guy’s a complete joke. Everything he’s saying, ‘Oh, we were in the gym.’ Dude, you never came up to me in the gym. You trained on the opposite side of the gym. Who’s the (expletive)?” – MMA Junkie

He made fun of Smith saying that he did not even deserve a shot at the title.
