UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington has joined the list of fighters who have given their foresight for the much-anticipated fight between Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is the latest MMA fighter to give his point of view on how he feels the trilogy fight between Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier might turn out. Poirier and McGregor will compete in a five-round main event bout at UFC 264 which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10. This is the third and most probably the final fight of their series. Both the fighters have knocked each other out and the series stands still at 1-1. At UFC 264, who will come out victorious is a big mystery, and everyone around the MMA circuit has given out their prophecies regarding UFC 264.
Former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has said that Conor can win the fight in early rounds while Dustin will be winning if the fight goes to later rounds. Current UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has stated that he feels like Conor Mcgregor will be winning the trilogy fight as he is better than Dustin. Former two-division champion Georges St-Pierre has also picked Conor to win as according to him, Conor does very well in rematches.
Colby Covington picks Dustin Poirier to win at UFC 264
Even though Colby Covington and Dustin Poirier have had a couple of disputes over the years as they were in the same gym before Covington left, Colby is still picking his former teammate to win against Conor Mcgregor at UFC 264.
“Yeah, he’ll probably beat Conor again,” Covington stated to MMA Fighting while appearing on What the Heck. “But, I mean, what is that saying?
“You’re beating a guy that has no motivation left in the sport. And I love Conor. He’s had a great career, done great things in the sport, but your time’s up, too. It’s obvious that you’re not training every day, it’s obvious you’re not working on your craft, it’s obvious you’re working on other business deals to line your pockets and pad your bank account.
“It’s just not the same hungry Conor from a couple of years ago. It’s a different Conor towards the end of his journey and it’s not saying much to beat him anymore.”
