It looks like former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington isn’t a fan of Dustin Poirier’s charity.
The beef between Dustin Poirier and Colby Covington goes back to 2019 when Poirier was coming off of a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi at UFC 264. In the post-fight press conference, Dustin Poirier said that he would be ‘on site’ if they ever cross paths at American Top Team.
Since then, Colby Covington has left the American Top Team and is now training at MMA Masters in Miami.
Now in a recent interview with James Lynch, Colby Covington trashed Dustin Poirier and his charitable trust ‘The Good Fight Foundation’. Colby Covington believes the former interim lightweight champion is using the trust to make money for himself and tax write-offs.
“Dustin Soirier (Poirier), he’s terrible, he’s garbage. I used to train with him, the guys a complete bum. I mean, he’s funny because he’s talking all this talk, it’s on sight when I see Colby. No, it’s not on sight, bitch, you know who your daddy is,” Colby Covington said to James Lynch. “Oh yeah, and talking about Dustin, I thought that fight should’ve gotten canceled, man. Con man McGregor called out Dustin for the truth, he’s using his charity to make money for himself, it’s a tax write-off.
“He’s not actually using that money for kids, he knows Conor McGregor knows Dustin Soirier is literally a Con man,” Covington continued. “He’s conning the people with this so-called charity, Good Fight Foundation. Dude, guys the fakest guy in the world. I wish people really knew who Dustin Soirier was not just who they portray him as in the media.”
Colby Covington is backing Poirier to win trilogy against McGregor
While the beef between Poirier and Colby Covington doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon, he, however, believes that Poirier will defeat Conor to win the series.
“Yeah, and that’s not saying like Dustin Sorry-ier is any good or like, is anything special,” Covington said. “Because the guy’s not. The guy’s a gatekeeper at lightweight. He’s nothing more. All in the big fights he always gets knocked out and beaten. He’s a jobber, that’s the definition of what Dustin Sorry-ier is.
