Colby Covington is no stranger to stirring the pot, and this time, he’s taking aim at Michael Chandler. After the highly anticipated clash between Chandler and Conor McGregor was scrapped due to McGregor’s undisclosed injury, Covington seized the opportunity to engage in a friendly banter with his fellow fighter.
For what felt like an eternity, fans eagerly awaited McGregor’s return to the Octagon after nearly three years away. Unfortunately, UFC CEO Dana White announced that McGregor was officially out of the June 29 headliner. Instead, the event will feature a light heavyweight championship rematch between reigning titleholder Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka.
Michael Chandler and Covington’s Connection
Around the same time last year, Michael Chandler appeared on FOX News alongside Covington. Predictably, sparks flew during their interview. Covington suggested that “deep down inside,” Chandler knew he would never fight McGregor. Fast forward to the present, and it seems Covington’s prediction was spot-on.

Colby Covington’s Troll Game
Covington didn’t miss a beat. He took to his Instagram Stories to kick Michael Chandler while he was already down. The post featured a video from their previous interview, where Covington confidently asserted that Chandler wouldn’t face Conor McGregor.
Whether you love him or hate him, Covington’s taunt hit the mark—for now. As for McGregor, rumors suggest his injury may be related to the leg he broke in his last fight against Dustin Poirier. Fortunately, it appears that “Mystic Mac” won’t be sidelined for too long, with a potential return in August or September.
