The former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington took to Twitter on Monday to challenge NBA star, LeBron James, to a boxing bout.
The tweet comes after the Legends Only League boxing event on Saturday night. The event, which was headlined by Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr., featured a bout between YouTube star Jake Paul and former NBA player Nate Robinson in the co-main event of the card. Robinson suffered a knockout loss to Paul.
When legendary Mike Tyson met Roy Jones Jr. for an epic bout that ended in a draw, there was this another fight that caught the attention of Colby. With an epic Snoop Dogg commentary, when YouTube sensation Jake Paul defeated (KO) former NBA star Nate Robinson, Colby found his moment to drag in Bron. He called out the four-time NBA Champion, saying, “I’d make @kingjames eat the canvas in half the amount of time.” He did not just stop there. The 32-YO also had the guts to call the entire present-day NBA fraternity as “soft”.
Heard they finally scraped @nate_robinson’s carcass off the @staplescenter floor. I’d make @kingjames eat the canvas in half the amount of time. Everyone knows current @NBA players are the softest and most privileged athletes on the planet. #TysonJones #Facts

Colby Covington vs Controversies
Colby Covington (16-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC), who’s known in combat sports for his extremely publicized support of President Donald Trump, has kept quiet for the last few weeks. His shot at James is the first comment he makes since President-elect Joe Biden was voted into power in November.
Covington has been a big critic of the Black Lives Matter movement and this is not the first time he goes after James or the NBA. The 32-year-old blasted NBA and MLB players for sitting out in protest of racial injustice back in August.
Colby also criticized then San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick and NFL players for taking a knee during the national anthem in protest of police brutality.
Covington last fought in September where he picked up a technical knockout victory over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley at UFC Fight Night 178. He’s currently 8-1 in his last nine bouts with his lone loss coming in a title fight against champion Kamaru Usman. Covington also previously called for a fight with James, suggesting the basketball player “wouldn’t last 10 seconds” in the Octagon.
Even after so many remarks by Covington on James, The ‘King’ Lebron James has not even cared to reply to him at all. He has ignored everything Covington has to offer and has not made any statements regarding Colby’s tweets. But yes, it is a fantasy of many across the globe to someday get to watch a LeBron vs Covington in a match of the century.
