Conor McGregor’s two losses in 2021 earned him $8.6 million per minute

2021 did not go well for Conor McGregor regarding his MMA career. Coming off of a year-long hiatus since his win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020, McGregor’s first fight of 2021 took place against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 on 24th January, in which the Irishman suffered a 2nd round TKO defeat. In the trilogy fight on 19th July, the ‘Notorious’ suffered a broken tibia, on top of losing the fight via TKO in the first round.

Despite losing both of his UFC encounters last year, McGregor has been a winner in pocketing some hefty green last year. Aside from becoming Forbes’ highest-paid athlete last year, throughout the 12 minutes and 32 seconds he spent against Poirier across the two fights, he precisely earned $8,695,652.00 per minute inside the cage, as reported by OLBG.com (Online Betting Guide).

Pursuing McGregor regarding earnings per minute were the likes of undisputed super-middleweight world champion boxer Canelo Alvarez, NFL legend and seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady, as well as football icons Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo, but their numbers pale in comparison to McGregor’s eight million per minute earning.

Responding to the announcement, McGregor took to his official Instagram, “Wow! $8.6m a minute in 2021.” several other MMA fighters and even Ronaldo himself had their responses in the comments.
