UFC superstar Conor McGregor has found himself in the middle of controversy once again and this time, the accusation is of sexual assualt on a woman during the NBA Finals in Miami.
Accuser alleged Conor McGregor attempted to forced her to perform oral sex in men’s bathroom
During the fourth game of the Finals, which saw the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat 108-95 at the Kaseya Center, McGregor was in attendance at the event where he had already stirred himself into a controversy after punching a mascot in a skit, who had to be hospitalized afterwards.
All that being said, what’s making headlines now is dimming the mascot incident in comparison. In a new turn of events, TMZ Sports reported earlier today that a woman has accused the Irishman of rape during the Finals.
Attorney Ariel Mitchell, representing the accuser, has already sent demand letters to McGregor, the NBA and Miami Heat earlier this week, claimed that the incident took place after the accuser was allegedly separated from her friends by security personnel following the game and was forced into the men’s bathroom at the arena.
Mitchell then alleged McGregor of walking out of one of the stalls and trying to forcibly kiss the woman, followed by an attempt to force her to have oral sex. The woman had then escaped from the bathroom, leaving her purse behind.
While the accuser is seeking a settlement to avoid litigation, McGregor’s team issued a statement to TMZ where they termed the allegations as “false”, adding that “Mr. McGregor will not be intimidated.”
In the meantime, both Miami Heat as well as the UFC released statements of their own.
“The organization is aware of the recent allegations regarding Conor McGregor and will continue to gather additional details regarding the incident. UFC will allow the legal process to play out before making any additional statements,” read the statement from the UFC.
“We are aware of the allegations and are conducting a full investigation. Pending the outcome of the investigation, we will withhold further comment,” the Heat’s statement read.
The Miami Police Department has also issued a statement regarding the alleged incident. Miami Police Department Officer Michael Vega stated that a report was filed on the night of the alleged incident, and Aaron Bronsteter of TSN shared it on Twitter.
A statement from @MiamiPD officer Michael Vega regarding the allegations made against Conor McGregor:
"At this time all we can confirm is that MPD’s Special Victims Unit is investigating a report that was filed Sunday, June 11, 2023.
