Conor McGregor claims Khabib faked father’s Covid-19 diagnosis to stay inactive

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has said that the Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov didn’t have COVID-19 and it was all faked to remain inactive inside the octagon.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was supposed to fight the former interim champion, Tony Ferguson, at UFC 249. The event had to be delayed following the suspension of live events throughout the US. The event was later shifted from its original date to May 9, but Khabib couldn’t make it as international travel was restricted.

As a result, Justin Gaethje stepped in at short notice to fight Ferguson and knocked him out in the fifth round. Gaethje and Khabib are now scheduled to fight in September.

Conor McGregor is still actively gunning for a fight against Justin Gaethje and prior to that, he was even asking for a title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Recently, Abubakar Nurmagomedov who is the cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov took to social media to mock Conor McGregor.

This is like the Coronavirus. You can’t breathe.” Abubakar wrote in the caption.

The mockery didn’t sit well with the former two-division Irish superstar as he fired back calling Khabib’s father COVID-19 situation a hoax.

“I figured it was all just a cover up about Abdulmanap. A cover up to hide the lack of activity and the pulling out of fights and running away. Good luck but remember – Allah sees all!” –  Conor McGregor replied.

Abubakar making a COVID-19 joke was out of the ordinary considering his uncle Abdulmanap was in a coma and after being infected by the virus. He is currently under treatment at a military hospital in Moscow.

Khabib says his father is still unable to speak

Khabib Nurmagomedov hasn’t left his father’s side ever since he was shifted to a hospital in Moscow. He also said that his father hasn’t been able to speak because of the medical devices attached to him.

I visit him, [and] he recognizes me, but there’s no communication because he’s connected to [medical] devices,” Nurmagomedov explained. ”Every day they let me in, I spend half an hour [with him], I hold his hand.

When I ask: ‘Father, do you recognize me?’ He gestures and lets me know.”

He further added that he has full faith in the medical facilities provided by the hospital.

These are some of the best doctors in the world,” Nurmagomedov said. “I have no concerns [about my father’s care], many thanks to them.

In that respect, all’s well. It takes time, because the consequences are very difficult, and the rehabilitation period will be long and tough.” he concluded.

Khabib claims more than 20 people in his family have contracted Covid-19

Last month, Khabib Nurmagomedov took to Instagram and stated that as many as 20 people in his family were infected with COVID-19.

In my personal case, I’ve had more than 20 people sick from my family,” Nurmagomedov said in his Instagram video. “More than 20 people were lying in the ICUs. And many of them are no longer among us. Many acquaintances have died, many parents of my relatives. Everybody is having a hard time dealing with it.

There is a lot written on the internet about my father. My father, right now, is located in a hospital. He is in critical condition as a result of this virus. It impacted his heart because last year he had a surgery there, and right now, they did another surgery. He is in a very difficult situation, very difficult. We are asking Allah that he returns him to us.” (Translated by ESPN)
