Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has accepted a super fight against Anderson Silva.

Anderson Silva who is a former UFC middleweight champion is widely regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. Silva called out McGregor last night in a social media post.

Anderson Silva took to Instagram and said that he wants to fight Conor McGregor at 176.37lbs. McGregor has previously competed at three weight classes. He held UFC titles at featherweight and lightweight and on the other hand, he has a 2-1 record in the welterweight division.

SUPER FIGHT 176.37LBS. I have an immense admiration for the great athlete Conor and I believe that a super fight would be something historic for the sport, neither of us need to prove anything to anyone; I believe UFC and sport fans would like to see this great martial (arts) show, testing my martial skills with him would be fantastic!!,” he wrote on Instagram.

Conor McGregor took to twitter and state that he has accepted Silva’s offer to fight at 176.37lbs catchweight.

I accept,” McGregor tweeted.

Not the first time Anderson Silva has called out Conor McGregor

This is not the first time that Silva has called out Conor McGregor. Back in 2019, prior to his fight against Israel Adesanya, the Spider said that it would be an honor to fight the Irishmen.

I believe 180 (pounds) is good for me and McGregor,” Anderson Silva. “I’m just waiting because I don’t control this. This is a question for Dana, but I believe this an amazing fight for the fans.

I think it’s good for McGregor, and let’s go do it because that’s amazing. That’s for the fans. It’s close to happening you know, but McGregor, come on, man. Let’s go do this. Don’t run, man, don’t run. You scared? I don’t believe that you’re scared, let’s go.

Anderson Silva lost his last fight against Jared Cannonier via TKO in round 1 at UFC 237. Prior to that, he lost to then rising middleweight contender Israel Adesanya at UFC 234. He is currently 1-6 in his last seven UFC appearances.

The ploy to fight McGregor seems to be his only shot at one big payday. ‘The Spider’ currently has two-fights left on his current contract.
