Not the first time Anderson Silva has called out Conor McGregor
This is not the first time that Silva has called out Conor McGregor. Back in 2019, prior to his fight against Israel Adesanya, the Spider said that it would be an honor to fight the Irishmen.
“I believe 180 (pounds) is good for me and McGregor,” Anderson Silva. “I’m just waiting because I don’t control this. This is a question for Dana, but I believe this an amazing fight for the fans.”
“I think it’s good for McGregor, and let’s go do it because that’s amazing. That’s for the fans. It’s close to happening you know, but McGregor, come on, man. Let’s go do this. Don’t run, man, don’t run. You scared? I don’t believe that you’re scared, let’s go.”
Anderson Silva lost his last fight against Jared Cannonier via TKO in round 1 at UFC 237. Prior to that, he lost to then rising middleweight contender Israel Adesanya at UFC 234. He is currently 1-6 in his last seven UFC appearances.
The ploy to fight McGregor seems to be his only shot at one big payday. ‘The Spider’ currently has two-fights left on his current contract.
