The entire world of combat sports was sent into a state of shock when Andy Ruiz Jr. knocked the world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, out cold and took away his WBA (Super), WBF, WBO, IBO heavyweight titles. This is being touted as one of the biggest upsets in the history of heavyweight boxing. This has given rise to plenty of reactions from experts and pundits. However, it is safe to say that the former UFC champ champ Conor McGregor’s reaction to it particularly caught everyone’s eye.
McGregor got so excited watching all the boxing on show and by the big, amazing knockout upset, that he went on to call out and challenge ‘Juan Manuel Mayweather’ for a rematch.
McGregor’s challenge is likely aimed at Floyd Mayweather. While it is believed that McGregor will again be competing in the octagon this year, him challenging Mayweather for a boxing rematch has again put his future into questions and doubt.
Below is the tweet in which he called-out and challenged Mayweather:
Boxing is great, I am going to relish another go!
I challenge Juan Manuel Mayweather to a rematch.
Under the tutelage of my old club.
We’ll see then mate.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) June 2, 2019
