Conor McGregor is ready to make his return to the Octagon against Michael Chandler and vows that it will be the “greatest” comeback in the history of combat sports.

The former double champion is set to coach TUF 31 against Chandler, airing this Tuesday night, ahead of a potential fight between the two later this year. The bout will mark the return of “The Notorious” since his leg fracture in the trilogy fight against Dusitin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July 2021.

During his recovery phase, there were multiple speculations arising on when McGregor would return, if not whether the Irishman would ever return to the fight game in the first place.

Nonetheless, Conor McGregor not only is aiming for his much awaited comeback to the cage, but also wants to make it the greatest ever comeback in the history of combat sports.

“Not only just a return, the greatest return in combat sports,” said McGregor during a recent exclusive interview with Megan Olivi published on the UFC’s official YouTube channel.

Aside from making the greatest ever return, Mystic Mac added that he’s also planning to finish the fight with a good old kick to the head of Michael Chandler.

“I’m going to kick this guy in the head. He’s just tailor-made for being kicked all over the place, and that’s what I’m aiming for. I am aiming to wrap this steel bar around the opponent,” added McGregor. “And you’re going to see a visual of the leg hanging off and then you’re going to see a visual off a head hanging off. So I’m excited for that and motivated for that, and steady making my way towards it.” [H/T BJPenn.com]
