Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has turned furious at Nate Diaz for the latter’s recent comments following UFC 279.

Nate Diaz fought out of his UFC contract with a fourth round submission win over Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279 this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Making a turnaround from his two fight losing streak, the Stockton superstar choked out ‘Cl Cucuy’ in the fourth round by locking in a guillotine, marking his 21st professional career win on the final fight of his UFC contract.

In the interview that followed after the event, Diaz took a jibe at his former rival Conor McGregor. The 37-year-old, who recently launched his own combat sports promotion Real Fight Inc, recently brought up a potential trilogy with McGregor and told Inside Fighting that the fight for sure going to happen at some point.”

McGregor had acknowledged to Diaz’s proposition with a tweet yesterday. “Congrats Nate Diaz on making it to the end of his contractual obligations with the UFC, and as a bonafide superstar goer. An incredible feat. Fair play. Our trilogy will happen,” Mystic Mac wrote.

Your nothing with out me. Respect, please: Conor McGregor tells Nate Diaz

After the win over Ferguson, Diaz took a shot at his Irish rival once again and even bantered when asked if McGregor had personally reached out to him about the trilogy.

“I want to get out of the UFC for a minute and show all these UFC fighters how to take over and own up another sport how you’re supposed to do it. Cause Conor McGregor didn’t know how to do it. None of these other fighters know how to do it. So I’m going to go out there and I’m going take over another profession and become the best at that. Show everybody I’m the best at that and then I’m going to be right the f**k back here to get a motherf**king UFC title. The best title in the world,” said Diaz. [H/T BJPenn.com]

Diaz’s statements, as expected, did not sit well with McGregor, who reverted back with another tweet, claiming that Diaz is “nothing” without him.

“Ah come on bro I’m absolutely stinking. And with so much quality. This has never been seen before what I’m doing man. Please, Your nothing with out me. Respect, please. I’d slap you around handy. And Tony easy. I’d have sawed Tony in half. 2 ham ball heads. Respect the king,” McGregor wrote.

Despite having six years passed, the two-fight saga between Diaz and McGregor remains one of the most popular in UFC history. The two faced off for the first time at UFC 196 in March 2016 in which Diaz handed McGregor his first promotional defeat. The two returned for a rematch at UFC 2020 later in August 2016 and this time, ‘The Notorious’ turned the tables and defeated the Stockton superstar.
