In a recent interview, reigning UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria revealed his intention to retire from MMA by the age of 30. The 27-year-old Spaniard expressed that he has lost the motivation to defend his title and plans to move up to the lightweight division before calling it a career. However, this announcement did not sit well with Conor McGregor, who responded with a pointed remark: “Here’s the truth that will hurt all the little wannabe nobodies. Fighting was too easy for me, I done it all by 27 years old.”

McGregor, known for his brash personality and competitive spirit, has always been vocal about his achievements and opinions. His reaction to Topuria’s retirement plans is no exception. Despite their history of public disputes, McGregor’s comment highlights his belief that Topuria’s decision to retire early is premature and perhaps a sign of lacking ambition.

Ilia Topuria Reacts to Conor McGregor’s Legal issues

Topuria, on the other hand, has been critical of McGregor in the past, especially following McGregor’s legal issues. In a recent interview with Chiringuito TV, Topuria stated, “It interested me, but it doesn’t anymore. He’s going through very serious personal problems. I have no desire to share the octagon with someone like that.” This statement further underscores the tension between the two fighters.

While McGregor’s reaction has stirred up controversy, it has also reignited discussions about Topuria’s future in the UFC. Topuria’s impressive record and recent victories over top fighters like Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway have made him a formidable presence in the featherweight division. His decision to move up to lightweight and potentially face former champion Charles Oliveira next year adds another layer of excitement to his career trajectory.
