Conor McGregor, the notorious Irish fighter, has never been one to shy away from expressing his opinions. After Islam Makhachev’s impressive victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 302, Conor McGregor took to social media with a cryptic post that left fans speculating.
At UFC 302, Islam Makhachev faced one of the biggest challenges of his career. Dustin Poirier, a determined opponent, thwarted most of Makhachev’s takedown attempts throughout the fight. However, in the closing round, the Dagestani fighter executed a vicious ankle pick, followed by a guillotine and a D’Arce choke that forced Poirier to tap out.
Conor McGregor’s Reaction
Conor McGregor, who has a long-standing rivalry with Makhachev’s camp, posted a six-word message on social media: “I’ll get back to ya’s tomorrow. CMG.” The cryptic nature of the post left fans wondering about McGregor’s thoughts on Makhachev’s victory.
The feud between McGregor and Makhachev’s friend and mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, is legendary. When they faced off at UFC 229 in 2018, Khabib emerged victorious, submitting McGregor in the fourth round. Given this history, it’s not surprising that McGregor might be eyeing a potential clash with Makhachev.

Makhachev’s Plans
During his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Makhachev called for a welterweight title shot. This request seems plausible, especially since welterweight champion Leon Edwards has expressed interest in facing the sambo maestro. However, Edwards must first get through Belal Muhammad at UFC 304.
Meanwhile, McGregor is set to return to the octagon on June 29, facing former three-time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler. This fight marks McGregor’s comeback since breaking his leg during the trilogy bout against Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021.
