Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is all set to fight at UFC 245 which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He will be fighting former bantamweight title challenger Marlon Moraes in his bantamweight debut.
Aldo will be fighting in the bantamweight division for the very first time in his career. There were serious concerns if Aldo would be able to make weight as he looked very drained before the weigh-ins.
However, Aldo shut his critics up as he successfully made the bantamweight limit of 136lbs. While there were many critics, Conor McGregor wasn’t one of them. In fact, he defended Aldo’s drop to bantamweight in a reply to ESPN MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
“I disagree here,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “He looks more than on top of it in my experienced opinion. Well trimmed in advance, and naturally a lighter man now. This can only be done over a long length of time and with complete dedication. Respect! I wish him well and am excited to see him in this division.
“The rejuvenation of your career with fresh goals and targets!” McGregor said. “The prestige of being a UFC World champion in two weight divisions! The feeling of excitement you will give the fans with all the new potential match-ups that can be made! All great and valid reasons! Enjoy.”
As soon as Aldo made weight last night, the Irishmen who had previously beaten him in just 13 seconds took to twitter and congratulated the bantamweight legend on his victory.

While both fighters have had a tremendous rivalry in the past, Aldo appreciated the support he received from McGregor.

“Of course I took it to heart,” Aldo told Aaron Bronsteter of TSN. “All of the great champions know what type of sacrifice it takes for us to achieve things. The other people, the other fighters, they can only dream of this. So it means a lot to me that it comes from him. He is a champion in two weight classes. He knows the sacrifices that I’ve had to make and I really take the comment/compliment to heart.”
Who do you guys think wins between Marlon Moraes and Jose Aldo?
