Former UFC two division champion Conor McGregor is now making a huge noise in the whiskey business which he entered last year. Mcgregor released his brand of whiskey Proper 12 last September prior to his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Despite the fight not ending on the note that McGregor expected it to, Proper 12’s stock has risen steadily from then till now. According to a report from The Irish Times, Proper 12 has played a major role in whiskey sales surpassing $1 billion for the first time in the US. The information was cited from the Distilled Spirits Council.
Here’s a snippet from the story:
Mixed martial arts (MMA) champion Conor McGregor, who is behind the brand, launched Proper No. Twelve last September, initially in Ireland and the U.S. The brand, which is now also available in the U.K. and Australia, sold out a six-month allocation in its first 10 days and has now shipped about 200,000 nine-litre cases since its launch.
Mr. Mundy warned that if Jameson’s growth rate in the U.S. continues to slow due to a jump in sales from Mr McGregor’s brand, it could cause big problems for its owner, which is being targeted by activist investor Elliot.
McGregor didn’t chide away from sharing the information on his Twitter. His tweet came about in typical McGregor fashion.
Was there ever any doubt I’d turn Whiskey to a Billi?
I turned “human cock fighting” to 4.2.
I’m gonna toast on this fine Thursday this amazing news.
Sláinte to the only true Irish Whiskey we have left, @ProperWhiskey!
Irish owned forever.
Thank you all.
It has been my pleasure. https://t.co/E9RGpRxAC5— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 25, 2019
If this wasn’t enough, McGregor’s excitement went through the roof in his even bigger Instagram post.
With his whiskey brand doing paranormally well, the chance of his return to the Octagon will only get slimmer. UFC President Dana White has arranged a meeting with McGregor this week in South Florida. Hopefully it will bring a certain air of certainty in McGregor’s fighting future.
