Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC, when happens, will most likely be against Michael Chandler, as suggested by none other than Dana White himself.

McGregor’s return is one of the most awaited events to take place yet. The former double champ has been out of action since breaking his leg at UFC 264. While his recovery was nearly over, McGregor’s withdrawal from the USADA testing pool pushed back his return.

All that being said, there are several picks for ‘The Notorious’ to face him on his comeback and as the return approaches, Michael Chandler has emerged as the top pick, with Dana White himself clearing the air.

Speaking to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, the UFC prez named ‘Iron’ as the one facing McGregor on the latter’s return to the UFC.

while we’re just hearing the official word from White now, McGregor vs. Chandler has been a highly anticipated fight for the MMA fans for quite some time. While McGregor still remains the biggest face of the sport, Chandler has emerged as a one of the best 155-pounders in the UFC, and a fan favourite.

The two had previously exchanged words about facing one another multiple times in the past, and the fight became even more exciting, especially after Chandler’s heated call out of the Irishman following UFC 274 in May, which McGregor also nodded to.

“I think at this point he’ll come back and look at the suitors,” Chandler commented on McGregor’s return following UFC 281. “I don’t think I’m the easiest fight that he could take. But, I am the biggest fight that he could take. I think Conor McGregor stepping back in the octagon does big numbers no matter what. But Conor McGregor stepping inside the octagon with me does staggering numbers. I respect him, I would love to see him come back and maybe I’ll be the guy that he comes back and fights.” [H/T BJPenn.com]

Chandler is currently 2-3 in the UFC and has won only once in his last four outings- a vicious KO of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. In his last fight, Chandler lost to Justin Geethje via submission at UFC 281.
