Conor McGregor reveals that he broke his foot 3 weeks before Khabib Nurmagomedov fight

Last year in October, Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0) successfully defended his UFC lightweight championship against Conor McGregor (21-4) via fourth-round submission in the main event of UFC 229 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

In that fight, Conor McGregor didn’t look like himself and his footwork was flat and he wasn’t light on his feet, as Khabin Nurmagomedov not only dominated McGregor on the ground but also during standup and he dropped McGregor with a well-timed overhand right.

Now the Irish star has revealed on Twitter as to why he fought the way he did.

I broke my foot 3 weeks out from the bout.
I still marched forward, however, and also landed the final blows of the night.
On his blood brother.
I am happy with how the contest went and the lessons learned.
In my fighting and more importantly my preparation.
Time will reveal all.”

He then talked about his defence and how he survived Khabib’s ground and pound in the second round.

Very happy with my defence.
A precarious position with the head pinned against the fence. Every movement must be calculated as any overexertion leaves the guard open and could lead to a finishing blow. None of which came close.
Zero facial damage taken and I won the next round.

He then also cautioned his fans to never believe what they read about him.

I am quite fine thank you.
Don’t believe everything you read!
And from certain outlets,
believe NOTHING you read!
