Conor McGregor slams Dagestani fighters for PED use

In about four months, UFC is returning to Abu Dhabi. The pay-per-view event will have UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defend his championship against Dustin Poirier who is the interim champion.

MMA Team Dagestan posted a tweet where it listed some of the fighters who are expected to be on the card. Two notable names on that list include Islam Makhachev, Khabib’s teammate, and Mairbek Taisumov, notable hard-hitting striker.

Apparently, Conor McGregor saw this tweet and he replied to this post and didn’t hold back. McGregor makes some pretty serious allegations and also calls all of them “rats”. However, it is to be noted that McGregor has since deleted his reply on Twitter. But screenshots of his tweet are available online.

McGregor said the following :

“Team Meldonium.

3 on this list caught on performance enhancers in the past already.

Islam, Zubaira and Mairbek.

Dirty smelly rats all of them.”

Makhachev was tested positive for meldonuium, but USADA gave him a finding of no-fault and thus no suspension. Tukhugov had a two-year sanction for ostarine back in 2016, while Taisumov received six months from USADA for stanozolol ingested through a contaminated supplement.

Maybe McGregor’s heated attitude towards Khabib’s teammate and Dagestani fighters is due to his own rivalry with Khabib.
