Right after Donald Cerrone submitted Mike Perry at UFC Denver last week, he announced he was moving down in weight class to the lightweight division. He then said he was interested in fighting Irish superstar Conor McGregor. He even teased the possible matchup on Instagram.

However, as much as Donald Cerrone wants that fight, UFC president Dana White has insisted that he has no plans in making that fight anytime soon.

Conor McGregor vs Cowboy Cerrone? ‘Nope!’, says Dana White

That’s not true,” White told TMZ Sports in a recent interview (h/t Dan Hiergesell of MMA Mania). “Absolutely not true. Obviously, that’s the fight that “Cowboy” Cerrone wants but that’s not true.

We haven’t even thought about an opponent for either one of those guys yet, meaning Khabib or Conor.

One of the reasons, Dana White hasn’t discussed a potential fight with Cerrone because he might be facing a suspension alongside Khabib Nurmagomedov for their brawl at UFC 229. They are both supposed to appear before Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) in December for their suspension hearings.

December,” White said. “So those guys go before the Nevada State Athletic Commission in December and then we’ll know what’s up.

We’re not even thinking about it,” White continued. “It’s not even worth talking about because we don’t know how long the suspensions are going to be, what their fines are going to be. We don’t know the penalties yet, so you can’t even think about fights until we know what the penalties are.
